Grants awarded

Since the council adopted the grant awarding policy they have given grants away to the following groups:

2017

  • Waldridge Craft Club
  • Citizens Advice

 

2016

  • Co Durham School Benevolent Fund – this group was established to assist needy families in Co Durham with the purchase of shoes and winter coats for children.  Over recent years the fund has seen a marked increase in the number of applications from needy families.

 

2015

  • Chester le Street Friends – this group of volunteers look after people on their night out, if they need any help or advice on getting home, they supply flip flops to young ladies who take their shoes off, cagoules when they come out with out their coat in the rain.  Help them into taxis if they have lost their friends or are too drunk.

 

  • Durham Cathedral - This is to help the cathedral remain a free asset for the North East.  They do a lot of work which goes unseen.

 

2014

  • Waldridge Village Hall – to help fund the casing for the defibrillator which is held at the hall, this will enable to defibrillator to be placed outside for all residents to use in the case of emergency.

 

2013

  • Waldridge under 9’s football club

  • North East Air Ambulance

 

2012

  • RSVP – Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme – surgery transport scheme
  • Waldridge Fell Junior Rangers

  • Waldridge Park Junior Football Club
